The Turin Gallatin DB is the dual-boiler model in the Gallatin family. Separate one-liter brew and steam boilers let you set the two jobs independently, while the E61 group, rotary pump and included flow-control paddle retain a hands-on espresso routine. It is a good fit for someone who wants temperature flexibility and milk-drink capability in a traditional machine.

Two boilers with separate temperature control

The brew boiler supplies extraction water and the steam boiler handles steam and hot water. Each has its own PID control, so changing a brew setting does not require changing the steam boiler’s target. This is a different heating arrangement from the Gallatin V and R heat exchangers. You still need to allow the group and portafilter to warm fully; ready water and fully warmed metal are not the same thing.

Rotary pump and installation flexibility

The Italian Fluid-o-Tech rotary pump supports a reservoir-based setup or a direct-water installation. The removable reservoir holds approximately 1.7 liters. If you plan to plumb the machine, account for suitable water treatment, connection access and drainage before placing it. Direct supply removes the need to refill a tank by hand, but does not remove the need to monitor water quality and service the machine.

Use flow control to explore a recipe

The included E61 paddle changes water delivery during extraction. It allows you to explore a slower initial wetting stage or adjust the later part of a shot. Begin with a repeatable recipe and make one change at a time. A paddle does not correct uneven puck preparation, and a pressure reading depends partly on the resistance of the coffee bed.

A milk-drink workflow with less compromise

The separate steam boiler keeps steam heating distinct from brew-water control. Use the steam wand with a pitcher sized for your drink, then purge and wipe it promptly. When serving several drinks, keep an orderly routine for grinding, brewing and steaming rather than assuming a home machine has unlimited commercial throughput.

Check dimensions before installation

The body is approximately 11.26 inches wide and 17.44 inches deep, with a listed height of 15.55 inches. Leave additional room for the portafilter handle, cups, reservoir access and the brew lever. The 53.5-pound weight calls for a stable counter. Keep the manual available for startup, water-supply configuration and maintenance instructions.

Gallatin R is the rotary-pump heat-exchanger alternative. Legato V2 offers a smaller brew-boiler and steam-thermoblock setup.

Frequently asked questions

What is the main difference from the Gallatin R?

The DB has separate brew and steam boilers. The R uses a single heat-exchanger boiler; both configurations offer a rotary pump and flow control.

Can I use the DB without a water-line connection?

Yes. Use the removable reservoir if you are not installing a direct supply.

Does it make the shot automatically?

You operate the brew lever and can adjust the flow paddle. A capable grinder, scale and consistent puck preparation remain part of the process.

Where can I find setup instructions?

Download the Gallatin DB instruction manual for the operating and maintenance procedures.
