Home & Portable Espresso Machines
Find the machine for your everyday espresso ritual.
Choosing your equipment
Find a Turin espresso machine that fits the drinks you make and the way you like to prepare them. Compare compact pump machines, E61 heat-exchanger and dual-boiler designs, a hands-on lever machine and portable espresso equipment.
Choose Around Your Drinks and Routine
If cappuccinos and lattes are part of every morning, pay attention to the steam system and the workflow between brewing and steaming. If straight espresso is your focus, you may care more about temperature adjustment, manual pressure control or a compact footprint. The right choice also depends on how many drinks you make together.
Budget for a suitable espresso grinder, a scale and any accessories not included with the machine. Consistent grinding and puck preparation remain important even when the machine has programmable settings.
Understand the Heating Systems
The Legato V2 uses a brew boiler and a separate steam thermoblock. It offers a compact reservoir-based setup, but should not be confused with a conventional two-boiler machine. The MC3 combines a heated group and dedicated brew-water heating with a separate steam boiler and touchscreen controls.
In the Gallatin range, V and R are heat-exchanger machines. The Gallatin DB has distinct brew and steam boilers with independent PID controls. These heating architectures are different; compare the detailed specifications instead of treating every separate steam system as a dual boiler.
Compare Pumps, Flow Control and Water Supply
Gallatin V uses a vibration pump and offers optional flow control. Gallatin R uses a rotary pump with flow control included; Gallatin DB combines a rotary pump with its dual-boiler architecture. Check the selected variant for the supplied configuration.
Reservoir-only operation suits a counter without a water line. Other models offer reservoir or direct-water use, with model-specific connection requirements. Water-source options do not tell you the heating system or guarantee the same installation process.
Lever and Portable Alternatives
The Axis uses manual lever extraction with electrical heating, giving you direct involvement in pressure application. It has no steam wand. TrekBrew is a rechargeable portable espresso brewer and also lacks a milk-steaming wand. Compare them with your intended location, water supply and drink preferences in mind. Check height with levers raised, room to refill tanks and space for cups before choosing.
Is Legato V2 a dual-boiler espresso machine?
It uses one brew boiler and a separate steam thermoblock. Gallatin DB is the Turin model in this collection with separate brew and steam boilers.
Do I need a plumbed water connection?
No. Legato V2 uses a refillable reservoir, and several Gallatin and MC3 configurations also allow reservoir operation. Follow the exact model’s installation guidance if you choose direct connection.
Which machines suit espresso without milk steaming?
Axis offers a manual lever workflow and TrekBrew offers portable brewing. Neither has a steam wand. If you want lattes or cappuccinos from the same machine, compare the steam-equipped countertop models.
