The Turin MC3 pairs a traditional 58mm portafilter with a circular touchscreen for brew settings. Its heated copper group, brew-water heating system and separate 2.5-liter steam boiler give it a distinct place in the Turin range. It suits a home barista who wants adjustable pre-infusion and flow settings alongside a substantial milk-steaming system.

Three heating elements with different roles

A PTC heater warms the copper brew group, a brew-water heating system prepares water for extraction, and the 2.5-liter boiler supplies steam and hot water. PID control and NTC sensing manage the heating system. This is not the same layout as a conventional machine with separate brew and steam boilers, so compare the actual architecture rather than calling every separate-steam machine a dual boiler.

Touchscreen settings for the brew recipe

The interface provides brew-temperature, pre-infusion time and flow settings, together with extraction-flow adjustment. Single and double volumetric programs support repeat recipes, and a manual mode gives another way to run the shot. A volumetric setting does not measure the weight of espresso in the cup; use a scale while dialing in and keep the dose and puck preparation consistent.

Steam capacity and daily drink making

The dedicated steam boiler supports simultaneous brewing and steaming. You can turn the steam system off when it is not needed. A larger steam boiler provides a different reserve from a small thermoblock, but real steaming performance still depends on warm-up, settings and the pace of drinks. Purge the wand, texture milk in a suitable pitcher, then wipe and purge again as directed.

Reservoir or direct water supply

The MC3 uses a 1.5-liter tank and also supports a direct-water connection. Choose the arrangement that suits your coffee bar, accounting for appropriate water quality and installation requirements. The included quick fittings help with connection, but do not replace site-specific plumbing planning. Keep access available for maintenance and do not treat direct supply as a reason to ignore water treatment.

Counter space and electrical planning

This is a substantial machine: approximately 14.17 inches wide, 17.72 inches deep and 18.5 inches high, weighing around 46.3 pounds. Leave room for cups, the portafilter handle and reservoir access. The listed electrical configuration is 120V and 1,600W. Check your available space and outlet arrangement before ordering, especially if you also plan a large grinder.

Frequently asked questions

Is the MC3 a conventional dual-boiler machine?

No. It combines a heated group, brew-water heating system and separate steam boiler. Gallatin DB is the Turin model with distinct brew and steam boilers.

Can I turn off steam when only making espresso?

Yes. The steam system can be switched off when not needed.

Does volumetric brewing replace weighing the shot?

No. Programmed water volume and final beverage weight are different measurements. A scale helps you establish the output you prefer.
