Lever Espresso Machines
Find the machine for your everyday espresso ritual.
Choosing your equipment
A lever espresso machine puts pressure application in your hands. Explore the Turin Axis for manual extraction with PID-controlled electrical heating, a pressure gauge and a 58mm portafilter.
What the Lever Controls
On the Turin Axis, your lever input and the resistance of the prepared coffee bed determine extraction pressure. This gives you a direct, tactile role in the shot. The pressure gauge helps you observe the process while you learn a repeatable technique.
The PID controls heating; it does not take over pressure application. Keep dose, grind and preparation consistent while exploring lever movement. Changing the coffee, grind and pressure routine at once makes it difficult to understand the result.
An Espresso-Focused Setup
The Axis brews espresso without a steam wand. It suits someone who enjoys straight shots or plans a separate way to heat and texture milk. If you want espresso and milk steaming from one appliance, compare the pump-driven Turin machines before choosing.
A lever machine still needs an espresso-capable grinder. Small grind adjustments help establish useful resistance through the puck; the lever is not a substitute for a consistent grind and dose. A scale lets you monitor beverage yield while practicing.
Check Height and Included Accessories
The Axis is approximately 13 inches high with its lever down and about 29 inches with the lever raised. That working height is important under kitchen cabinets. The base is approximately 14.5 inches deep by 7.75 inches wide, and the overall length with the lever is about 16 inches.
The current listing specifies an 18g basket with the 58mm bottomless portafilter. Read the included-items section for the supplied tamper, puck screen and other accessories. A basket offered through a limited promotion should not be assumed to be standard with every order.
Prepare for the First Shots
Read the filling, heating and operating instructions before use. Plan a stable counter position and safe handling of hot parts, then establish a consistent recipe with the coffee you will use regularly. Follow the manual for seals, cleaning and maintenance.
Check the selected option for current stock or preorder status. Availability and estimates belong to the product and variant. For espresso while traveling, compare the battery-powered TurinTrek equipment, which uses a different brewing workflow.
Does Axis need electricity?
Yes. The current Axis listing uses electrical heating. Manual lever extraction describes how pressure is applied; it does not mean this is an unheated, electricity-free brewer.
Can the Axis steam milk?
No. It has no steam wand. Plan a separate milk-preparation method or choose a steam-equipped Turin machine if lattes and cappuccinos are your priority.
Is lever pressure controlled by the PID?
No. PID controls temperature. You apply extraction pressure through the lever, with the coffee bed’s resistance also affecting the shot.
