Fixed Speed Grinders

Precision grinders for your daily coffee ritual.

Choosing your equipment

Fixed-speed coffee grinders keep motor operation simple while giving you control over grind size. Explore Turin flat-burr and conical-burr models for weighed single doses or hopper-based timed grinding, without adding an RPM setting to your daily recipe.

Fixed Speed Still Means Adjustable Grind

Fixed speed refers to the motor control, not to the coffee grind. You can still move from finer to coarser settings using the adjustment system on the grinder. For espresso, that adjustment is central to dialing in a shot while holding dose and beverage yield steady.

Different fixed-speed models need not run at the same RPM. A loaded speed and a no-load speed describe motor behavior, not two user-selectable modes. Choose variable speed only if adjusting RPM is a feature you want to use.

Choose Your Dosing Style First

The DF54, DF64 Gen 2.7, DF83 Gen 2, SK40 and DC63 offer single-dose workflows: weigh your beans for each serving and grind into the collection cup. This suits changing coffees and keeping the remaining beans stored separately.

The Creyke GF64 offers a hopper and timed dosing routine. The motor-speed category does not tell you how the dose is measured. Compare single dose and timed dosing separately.

Compare Burrs, Adjustment and Space

Flat-burr choices include the DF54, DF64 and DF83 platforms. Conical options include SK40 and DC63. Burr shape and diameter describe part of the grinder; the included geometry, adjustment mechanism and grounds path also affect daily use.

The SK40’s geared adjustment allows small changes but takes more turning for large moves between brewing methods. A broad adjustment collar may better suit frequent espresso-to-filter changes. Check dimensions and allow room above the lid or bellows, rather than measuring only the body’s footprint.

Keep the Recipe Manageable

Start with one coffee, a consistent dose and a target drink yield. Change grind size in small steps, taste the result and record settings as your own reference. A coffee scale helps separate inconsistent dosing from grind changes. Follow the selected model’s cleaning instructions and check the current voltage, burr and condition options before ordering.

Are fixed-speed grinders only for beginners?

No. Many experienced coffee drinkers prefer a straightforward motor setup. Burr choice, adjustment quality and the complete workflow matter more than simply counting controls.

Does fixed speed mean every dose takes the same time?

No. Grinding time changes with the amount of coffee, bean density, roast and grind setting. Fixed speed describes the absence of a user-adjustable RPM control.

Can a fixed-speed model have automatic stop?

Yes. Motor speed and stopping behavior are different features. Check the individual model to see whether it has an automatic stop, a timer or manual operation.
