The DF54 modified declumper will reduce clogging that is sometimes experienced with certain types of coffee beans. This is the same declumper used in the most recent version of the DF54. If your grinder already has this declumper, you can modify it by following the instructions in the video below. If you have a previous version of the DF54 with the dual layer plastic declumper, this is a direct replacement for both layers.

Declumpers are a part of a grinder that will need periodic replacement under normal use and is not a warranty covered item. To keep your grinder working great for years to come, please make sure the following items are noted:

  • Coffee beans should only be added while the grinder is running
  • After each single dose of coffee, the bellow should be firmly pumped
  • Adjustments to the grind size should only be made while the grinder is empty and turned on
  • Every 500g-800g of beans, the collar should be removed and the grinder should be brushed and/or blown out with compressed air

Now it's perfect

I was cleaning out my DF54 and noticed the plastic declumper looked odd...like it was misshaped. So I tried removing the chute to get at the declumper and nothing I did would dislodge the outter chute. I wrote to Turin and asked for advice, and they asured me it would come out and just to keep at it.
OK...SO....I ordered a new "metal" declumper and watched the video on installing and modifiying the new metal one, and when it arrived I went to work (again) trying to remove the old chute...and after 10+ minutes I got it off!!! YAY!!!
I opened the box with the new declumper and the nice people at Turin had included a new inner chute with the revised plasma generator, outter chute, and the declumper.
I installed all the new parts and set about dialing it in. The declumper did a much better job than the old plastic one. The fines had zero clump although the plastic one worked but there were small/tiny clumps, and the best part is the plasma generator worked 1000x better than the original....I have NO static and coffee grounds on the outside of the new chute...zero...nada!!!
Thank you Turin!!!
