00:01
hi this is joe from espresso outlet i'm
00:03
going to make a video
00:04
to address some of the
00:07
clogging issues that people are having
00:10
there's been a few people telling me
00:11
about
00:14
the grinder clogging and i've been
00:15
trying to replicate it
00:17
and so far i haven't been able to
00:21
so it could potentially be
00:25
relating to the the type of coffee
00:27
that's used
00:29
but it could also be
00:33
a variety of different ways the grinder
00:37
is being used
00:38
so one of the things is when we're
00:40
installing these
00:41
ssp burrs we
00:45
had it set in the box a lot of
00:49
it will probably show up to you at about
00:52
zero
00:53
and if you're putting coffee in
00:56
when it's set at zero that's going to
00:59
increase the likelihood of um
01:04
jamming because the coffee is going to
01:05
be so fine so that's that's a potential
01:08
so i would move it over to maybe 20 or
01:12
something
01:13
start there and then
01:16
adjust
01:19
adjust from there up or down depending
01:22
on the flavor and
01:23
the flow rate and that kind of thing
01:26
another thing a lot of people are doing
01:28
is they are
01:30
removing the burr and
01:33
aligning it or checking the alignment so
01:37
one of the things you want to do is
01:41
if we aligned it for you keep track of
01:45
what position this bur is in you might
01:48
take a permanent marker
01:49
and just mark the side
01:53
that you know how this burr came out
01:58
um and then that way when you put it
02:00
back in you can look at that mark on the
02:02
side
02:04
and you'll know how to put the um
02:09
the burr carrier back in
02:12
so
02:13
[Music]
02:16
one of the things that might be
02:17
happening too is
02:19
in in some of the pictures i've noticed
02:22
that
02:22
people are getting a pretty coarse
02:25
setting and they're saying it's at zero
02:28
and i'm guessing
02:31
the collar isn't being zeroed out so
02:34
what you'll want to do to put this
02:36
collar back
02:37
on is apply downward pressure
02:40
on the top bur carrier and i'm doing
02:43
this with one hand but
02:44
um and then spin the collar and that's
02:47
going to get it to take the thread
02:51
and what you'll do is you keep spinning
02:53
this until you can't spin it anymore
02:56
you don't want to go very tight but you
02:58
want to
03:00
keep spinning until you're past
03:04
zero a little bit like right there
03:07
is the zero point right here is where
03:10
the birds are touching
03:11
you don't want the birds to touch a
03:13
hundred percent
03:15
so you move it over a little bit but
03:18
this might be over here somewhere
03:20
somewhere in here but keep spinning
03:23
until you get to that point
03:24
now the grinder is zeroed out don't
03:26
start it here
03:28
because that's gonna damage your burrs
03:30
but move it over a little bit
03:32
say to 20 and then start dialing in your
03:36
grind
03:38
if you didn't spin this all the way
03:42
and it's at zero here well this is a
03:44
full spin away from the absolute zero
03:47
point
03:47
so you want to make sure when you put
03:51
the collar back on
03:52
you're at the zero point
03:55
because what i what i've seen in photos
03:59
is the grind size is quite large when
04:02
people are saying it's at zero
04:04
so i don't think it's at the absolute
04:07
zero i don't think the grinder is being
04:08
zeroed out and i could be wrong but
04:11
that's kind of the impression i'm
04:13
getting
04:16
if you have a coffee for some reason
04:19
that is causing it to jam
04:22
what i would try and do is push the
04:26
bellows down
04:27
as it's grinding and see if that clears
04:30
up the issue
04:32
i haven't been able to replicate it i've
04:35
been trying
04:37
and i haven't been able to i'm not
04:40
getting that
04:42
uh clogging issue so
04:45
i would give that a shot uh the clogging
04:48
issue could possibly be related to
04:50
alignment that's another thing that
04:53
could potentially be
04:54
it but try doing that
04:57
see if that helps
05:00
and then potentially
05:03
might want to take a look at aligning it
05:07
a little better
